Language learning is the tool that allows us to identify problems and solutions that are common to people outside our traditions and customs. Therefore, in addition to being able to communicate with someone from another culture different from our own, we can share ideas, experiences, traditions and customs. This knowledge is our national identity, which has embraced us since we are small and which we must transmit in order to never forget our way of being, thinking and coping with our problems.

It is important to remember that biculturalism, like bilingualism, is an effective method to bring us closer to a more tolerant and understanding society.

In conclusion, bilingualism is the ability of a person to speak, understand, read and write in two languages fluently and in any communicative context. It is also important to express yourself in a second language, adapt to the place where you are, whether as an immigrant (Circumstantial Bilingualism) or study in an academy (Elective Bilingualism). It is difficult to identify the type of bilingual you are, because the important thing is to transmit the information and for the other person to understand it.

To conclude, Biculturalism extends beyond language and incorporates a deep understanding and identification with two diverse cultures, whereas bilingualism focuses exclusively on language fluency and the ability to converse in two languages. Someone can be bilingual and bicultural if they are fluent in two languages and have strong ties to two separate cultural origins. However, depending on the individual's level of cultural integration and identification, it is possible to be bilingual without being bicultural or vice versa.
